Love at first sight. Jamie approached Adina during a time of her life where her family was going through a tough period. He saw her, expressed his condolences, she thanked him and he walked away. But he then remained instilled in her heart for the next year or so. Jamie seemed so genuine, kind and loving; nobody compared to him. When other guys would approach her and try to court her, his face would pop into her mind and Adina would think, “but, Jamie is much better.” So in October of last year, Jamie and Adina were at Jamie’s brother’s house. He couldn’t stop looking of her, so he asked his brother Cris about her and the amazing thing is that Adina was asking Cornelia, Cris’ wife about Jamie. They started talking via text messaging and talking non stop. Three days later Jamie asked her out for some frozen yogurt. This girl, even after getting off a long day of work, she was stunning. They went out for some raspberry frozen yogurt and Jamie smiles as he recalls that his yogurt stood fairly untouched as they kept the conversation going back and forth for a few hours. Between being nervous and talking so much they forgot to go grab some actual food. Such a fun and memorable first date. Three very long months later, he got down on his knee and promised her his love, forever. Because when you know its from God, why wait?
Adina and I have a special friendship. You see, a little backstory, I went to Sunrise Mountain High School from 2006 to 2010 and in those 4 years, I was summoned to the office at least once a year to help them translate transcripts for students who came from Romania and were getting enrolled at Sunrise. I then toured the campus with them, showed them all the cool teachers, ALWAYS made them join choir, because Ms. Boehme is legit the coolest teacher ever! Well fast forward 2 years AFTER I graduated, I get a text message from Ms. Boehme (I obviously kept in touch with her), about needing my help translating the syllabus to 3 brand new Romanian students who enrolled that morning. I of course agreed, and she then said the office asked if I can translate for the office as well. Honorary Romanian at Sunrise Mountain right here! 🙂 Anyway, enough about me. The next day I drove to Sunrise, and the front desk lady offered me a private room to wait for them. I was sitting down, when 3 students walk in and waved shyly. I get up, smile BIG and say, “Hi, ma numesc Vero, si eu va voi ajuta sa va alegeti clasele, si va voi raspunde la care intrebari aveti.” Which means “Hi, my name is Vero (short for Veronica), and I will help you choose your classes as well as answer any questions you might have.” THEIR FACES LIT UP and they screamed, “a Romanian face and voice, finally”. Adina came and hugged me. You see, I’ve been there, I wasn’t in high school, but my first day of sixth grade flashed before my eyes, where there was nobody who spoke Romanian, I barely could get my thoughts across, and all I wanted was to have someone help me understand and someone to help me get my point across. And right then and there a friendship bloomed. A moment that Adina never forgot, and so when it was time to choose her wedding photographer, she told Jamie, I have to have Vero, I have very special memories of her from when we came from Romania.
Choosing Boyce Thompson Arboretum was an easy choice when it came to their engagement session. Its a piece of heaven in the middle of Arizona! When we arrived and parked, I asked them how many outfits they have, they smiled and opened the passenger door, and right there, hung beautiful, traditional Romanian outfits. I screamed, I was so happy and excited!
The love they had for each other is so obvious, from the way he constantly compliments her and the way he looks at her, to the way she lights up every time he looks into his eyes! Adina and Jamie, I cannot wait for your May wedding!
